So, hey, I recently got a cold email from what seems to be a rather legitimate ad company in the UK, offering to basically pay me to put inline text ads on this website. Essentially, in a blog post where I say something like “Delicious Cookies” it could instead be “Delicious Cookies” and I’d get twenty bucks. From what I understand I actually get a consultant to work with me, to find ads that work in the context of my site, but since it’s just a text link that I manually add to a blog post, I still have full control of the content. Think of it like a product placement:
I’d like your feelings on the subject. The more money I make on CitK, the more time I can devote to working on the comic. At the same time, I don’t want to make the experience of the website less enjoyable for my readers.
Well, my first suggestion is super super check that they are legit, but you already know that.
After that… well, if the above post’s links (As an example) would be representative of what I’d see on a regular basis, and I’d see MORE on a regular basis… 😛
I’d think I could live with it.
The delicious cookies link doesn’t go to delicious cookies, but just to a Kraft recipes site. That’s kind-of sad, I was looking forward to finding a source for delicious cookies. 😉
I don’t see how it could be a problem, as we have full control over clicking the link or not, as long as the ads aren’t inappropriate.
